We visited our village recently this January, to celebrate Sankranti (Pongal). Which is a South Indian festival. All relatives and friends from different places visit their families in the villages.
This festival is celebrated for three days. The first day is called Bhogi, the second day is Makra Sankranti, the third day is Kanuma.

Each day has its importance and rituals to be performed. Houses are beautifully decorated with rangolis (designs put on floors) flowers etc. People share sweets and hots prepared at home.
The most famous activities that are held are bull runs, cockfights, rangoli designs competition, kite flying, and cards etc.
My father is a nature lover so, our house is filled with plants and pet animals too. I grew up in a simple traditional way, loving things around me. Whenever we visit our village and spend time with all we come back feeling mentally recharged and refreshed. It’s like going back to our roots that nourish the whole being.
I wish each one of you to please do visit your native places or your parents frequently. This will give you great happiness like no other.
Please share with me your cultural festivities, that you celebrate with your family at your place. I would love to hear your stories.
Let’s all make this world a better place to live by sharing and caring.
Aren’t we all united in our diversities?
